It’s really difficult to stick with our healthy diet this Christmas season when it’s all about the sugar, the salt and the grease. Delicious food is here, there and everywhere. Like for example if somebody brings these Mini M&M Cookies at your party – freshly baked, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, generously smothered with your favorite milk chocolate goodness, how can you resist? We are simply surrounded and what else can we do? What else can we eat, right? It would be so sad to come to a Christmas party and NOT enjoy the food with the rest. What’s the fun in that? Nonetheless, I know very well that you are trying very hard NOT to eat as much as you wanted to. You probably resolved on skipping the cake or the crispy pata (but maybe tasted just a little bit?). For that, I still commend you. You might not be able to completely avoid all the food but these small steps go a long way. And speaking of small steps, here’s another one that I highly recommend you take. Your tummy and your whole system need a break ESPECIALLY this Christmas season and this Green Juice is it.

My husband and I started juicing earlier this year after watching Joe Cross’ documentary “Sick, Fat and Nearly Dead” on Netflix. Joe had a grave autoimmune disease (allergy) that even a simple handshake could kill him. By modern medicine’s standards, he was hopeless. Good thing he realized that the body has the ability to heal its own externally (wound healing) so it can probably do the same internally. He decided to reboot his system with healthy and natural juices, documented it and went around to educate others as he was seeing the benefits. He even met someone who had the same condition as his and encouraged him to also try juicing. The man hesitated at first but eventually obliged. The result? The same! Their bodies healed itself! 

It was a very compelling documentary that moved us to try juicing for ourselves as well. We may not have gone all out and all the way but we are definitely experiencing the benefits. For example, I have observed that whenever I stop drinking my daily green juice for a stretch of time, I start breaking out and I get constipated. I know my example is not as grand as Joe’s testimony but it is significant for me. You just have to try it out for yourself. You can go on an all out cleanse or you can substitute just one meal a day. Probably you can only drink one serving of juice a week. No matter what you think you can do right now, the important thing is that you try it out even once. Just start. And don’t worry for it will not be painful to drink. This Green Juice in particular is yummy and a good place to start.

  1. 4 large stalks of Celery (with the leaves)
  2. 1 cup Spinach
  3. 1/2 medium Cucumber
  4. 1 medium Apple
  5. 1 inch Ginger
  6. 4 pcs medium Calamansi
  7. 1 cup Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
  1. Wash all fruits and vegetables
  2. Cut up so that it can fit into the mouth of your juicer
  3. Juice up 4 large stalks of Celery (with the leaves), 1 cup Spinach, 1/2 medium Cucumber, 1 medium Apple and 1 inch Ginger
  4. Slice 4 pcs medium Calamansi and squeeze into the juice
  5. Add in 1 cup Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
  6. Use a cheese cloth or katsa to squeeze out more juice from the collected pulp
